Lapbook started
Mom has been reading up about how to do a proper lap book and we started today. It was so much fun. There are so many different ways to fold and cut paper. We will be doing "mini books" for a while on the different things I have learnt over the last few weeks on bones, muscles and joints. Then we will put them all together onto a lap book.

Orana Wildlife Park
Today we went to the Orana Wildlife Park for my birthday.
The first animal we went close to was the giraffe. We got to feed them branches. They gave the children thin small branches so that the children could just let go and the giraffe could just put the whole thing it it's mouth and spit the stick out back to you. It took Ruth's one right out her hand and ate it whole. The adults got thick sticks because they were strong enough to hold it while the giraffe tore the little leaves off it. It nearly took mom's right out of her hand. They are very strong.
Ruth enjoys being a lion at home so I said "when we go and see the lions I will take a picture of you with the lion". So I took this one of the lioness lying happily on the grass with Ruth standing next to the enclosure.
At first I could not find the tiger as the grass is quite brown in places but I saw two ladies standing looking and so I went to see if I could see it from where they were. At first I took the picture through the fence, but that was not as nice as this one.

We were looking at some monkeys when Dad said "Rachel, can you see the Kiwi?" And so I looked around and saw this huge giant statue of a kiwi. I thought it would make a nice photo with Ruth. We went into the Kiwi House and it was really nice. They advice that you stand a little and get used to the dark but Ruth still got scared because it was so dark. When we came out after seeing them being fed, there was a lady there, she was holding a basket with a chook egg in it and a proper kiwi's egg. It was really nice to see a proper Kiwi's egg.
We then went to the farmyard area. After we fed the pig we went to see the rabbits and guinea pigs.
It was nice to be able to wipe them.
When we first saw the lemurs they were fast asleep. I was busy looking at all the reptiles when Mom called me to come and look at the lemurs. They were running around and playing.
Then we went and watched the spider monkeys being fed. They have a lot of balance. I even saw one handing from his tail and eating one of the treats the lady had hung up for them.
