The cover. Including a photo of Ruth and I with the Monet painting we bought. It's one of only 4 prints.
Inside with all the mini books closed.
Some of the flaps open.
And the others open.

Guess: Farmers & Land

He painted them through the year. So he even had some covered in snow.

They wanted to cut the poplars down for timber. So he bought the land, finished painting, and then sold it back to them.

Guess: Stand Back

Your first clue. But more for interest sake, I don't think you would guess it on this alone.
Second clue.
He rented a very small room opposite the Cathedral. He could not see the top of the Cathedral from his window and he could also not stand back to look at his canvas because the room was so small.

Impressionism

I love pop-up mini books. They are so much fun.
This one has all the information about Impressionism and what made Monet's art different.

Guess: Steam & Garden

With these minibooks there is a clue on the front and you need to try and guess which of his famous paintings it is.

There were even times when they started up the trains just so that Monet could pain the steam.

He not only built the bridge but the pond too. He loved his garden and did many paintings of the flowers, waterlilies and this bridge.

Manet

Yes, Manet and not Monet.
Manet painted these pictures of Monet.
Monet loved his "floating studio" and spending time gardening.

Family

It was nice to get small pictures to remember the blue kitchen and yellow dining room at the Giverny House. This is the house with the huge garden and the waterlilies pond with the Japanese bridge. He is quite well known for the paintings of these.

Last 10 years

You will have to double click on the second photo to see it better. In the last 10 years of his life he painted these huge masterpieces. They are called "The Water Lilies" and he was almost blind for many of the years that he worked on them. They are very famous and they take up a whole room.
If you want to see how beautiful these paintings are (this photo does not show it very nicely) then do a Internet Image search "Claude Monet MOMA" and you will see how big and how beautiful they are.

Books read

This is a very small mini-book with pictures of the books we got on Claude Monet.
It opens out quite nicely. It was nice that we could get a picture books on him as well (the second from the top). When we went into the library the other day Ruth saw this book and ran over saying "Claude Monet".

Claude Monet

Over the last two months we have been enjoying the artwork of Claude Monet. We read a lot of books about him and really enjoyed our first study of an artist. We have had a book with a number of his garden paintings on our dinning room table for the last two months and often when Mom turns to a new page Ruth will say "Claude Monet painted that".
We finally finished the Body lapbook and so this week we will start with a lapbook on Claude Monet. I am so excited about it. It will be so much fun.

History reading

We have been quite busy with the lapbooks and so while we get those done (before we start our next unit study) Mom has been reading to me from this book. It has been really interesting.

It is so exciting to have my first proper lap book finished. This is the cover.
Then when you open it up it has a few flaps.
The left and right flaps are open here.
And here the middle flap has been moved to the left.

New cutting skills

Mom decided to add some photos to the lap book. So she printed them out and I cut them out with her blade and metal ruler. It's nice using it because it's so much straighter than what you can do with a pair of scissors.

Healthy bones

This is a cool mini book because the top flap tucks into the bottom section and stays closed.
And this is my last mini book. I also finished writing all my verses into the Bible mini book so I am very excited about finishing my lap book.
