Bones & Muscles Lapbook

It is so exciting to have my first proper lap book finished. This is the cover.
Then when you open it up it has a few flaps.
The left and right flaps are open here.

And here the middle flap has been moved to the left.

Healthy bones

This is a cool mini book because the top flap tucks into the bottom section and stays closed.
And this is my last mini book. I also finished writing all my verses into the Bible mini book so I am very excited about finishing my lap book.

Spine

This is a fun mini-book on a split pin.
The second flap with info like all mammals have 7 vertebrae in their neck, from a mouse to a giraffe.
And the third flap.
And the reason it's on a red background is because we have started putting them all onto the lap book. I still need to do just one more mini-book and finish off my bible verses. Then it will be done. I am so excited. It is looking so nice.

Ribs

A simple mini-book
but filled with interesting information - like our "floating ribs".

Face & Skull

This is a fun mini book because it starts out quite small....
but is really very big.
It's fun to make and also fun to open and close.

Pelvis

I love this mini book about the Pelvis.
Because it is a Pop-Up-Mini book.
The left pelvis is of a man and the right of a woman.

Feet

The outline of my foot. It just fitted on the paper.
Some info on the bones in the foot.
And some info on flat feet. I am having to do some exercises to try and help my feet because they are a little "flat".

Hands

This is an outline of my hand.
Some info on the bones in the hand.
And the muscles, ligaments and tendons that make our hand work.

Look at these bones & joints

We had roast lamb today for dinner, so it was a good opportunity to have a look at some bones and joints.
A ball and socket joint. And the left bone looks a bit like a shoulder blade, so the other bones was the top bone of the leg.
Ruth had fun moving the joint too.

Fun having a look at this section of bone and working out all the different things we could see.

Tying a Knot in a Bone: Part 3

Our first two bones are dry. Unfortunately they have gotten really dark so they don't look as nice as when they were first knotted. The heart worked really well on the second one though.
All the other small bones were soft now.
But they were too big for tying knots. So we used some string to keep them folded while they dry.

and Hydroskeleton (the one most people don't know about).

Soft egg shell: Part 3

It took a lot longer for the egg shell to get hard again. We kept poking it though to see if it was hard and because it was not completely hard yet, we made quite a few dents in the egg. It is so dry now it is falling apart.

Bones in the Bible

This is my favorite mini book so far.
Each day I will write a verse that has something about bones in it.

Getting the chicken bones to start my next experiment: tying a knot in a bone.
Pouring the vinegar over the bones. It will take a lot longer with the bones than it did with the egg shell but it's the same idea.

Smallest bone and muscle

A very small mini-book for a very small bone and muscle.
The stirrup bone is so easy to remember because I love horses to much. And it looks like a stirrup.

In just one day the vinegar has made the shell soft.

It's so soft.

Today we started an experiment where we will take the carbon out of the egg shell and it will go soft.
We put the egg in vinegar. As the carbon dioxide comes off the egg it forms bubbles.
